If you’re facing fatigue stemming from online dating, it’s perfectly normal! It’s called the dating app burnout and you can overcome it.

It’s no secret that dating apps have revolutionized the way people date. Simply a swipe left or right on a dating platform can help you meet potential partners. But as convenient as these services may be, they can also lead to dating app burnout — a phenomenon all too common in our fast-paced, digital world.

Dr Chandni Tugnait, M.D. (Alternative Medicines), Psychotherapist, Life Coach, Business Coach, NLP Expert, Healer, Founder and Director – Gateway of Healing, shares tips to help you overcome dating app burnout and get back on the path to finding love.

Tips to overcome dating app burnout

1. Take a break to deal with dating fatigue

If you’re starting to feel burnt out from using dating apps, the first thing you should do is take a break. Step away from your phone and take some time for yourself. Go for a walk, spend time with friends and family, or pick up a new hobby. The important thing is that you give yourself some time to recharge without the constant pressure of having to find a date. Dating apps are great, but don’t forget about meeting people in real life! There are plenty of opportunities to meet someone in real life — you just have to be open to it. Attend social events, join clubs or teams, or simply strike up a conversation with someone new every day. You never know who you might meet!

2. Be selective and set some ground rules

One of the main reasons people experience dating app burnout is because they feel like they have to keep swiping just in case they miss out on the perfect match. But this doesn’t have to be the case! Be selective in your swiping and only message people who you’re genuinely interested in getting to know better. This way, you won’t waste your time on bad dates or dead-end conversations and your dating app experience will be all the better for it. Before you start swiping again, sit down and set some ground rules for yourself. Decide how much time you’re willing to spend on dating apps each day or week and stick to it. This will help you avoid burning out and will also make your matches feel more like quality over quantity. Win-win!

3. Seek professional help

If you’re still struggling with dating app burnout, it might be time to seek professional help from a therapist. An expert can help you address any underlying issues which can cause you burnout. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Sometimes, we all need a little extra support when it comes to finding love.
