What most entrepreneurs and business owners fail to realize is that your mental state decides how well you can grow, improve your business and motivate yourself towards positive changes. As an entrepreneur, your habits, personal beliefs and your environment affect your business just as much as other people who are also involved in the company.
If you’re constantly in a bad mood or stressed about your business, your team members can also sense this and that impacts their motivation and productivity. This can cause problems later because of missed deadlines or subpar quality. People are not just intrinsically motivated but also need an element of structure, so if you allow them to assist you set goals, they will work harder than ever before.
People treat you according to your mental state, consciously or unconsciously. So make sure your mental state stays stronger by prioritizing your time (make time for yourself), eat well (your brain needs nutrients), get enough sleep (6 to 8 hours), and remember that life is short so, enjoying it.
Confidence – a powerful tool
Mental states are not only limited to dealing with others, but also include how we perceive ourselves in relation to others while we’re at work. While some underestimate themselves, others overestimate themselves based on their knowledge of the task at hand or their perception of power; these actions give rise to two very different types of emotions: confidence and over-confidence.
Confidence serves as a powerful tool in influencing oneself because it allows one to take on more, be more flexible about accepting new ideas and taking risks, and be more open-minded about the feedback we get from others. On the other hand, over-confidence leads to less flexibility, rigid thinking styles and stubbornness when it comes to accepting new knowledge or ideas.
Mental state also affects self-esteem and self-image. A healthy attitude towards one’s own mental state means being aware of how you are feeling, being open-minded towards other people’s thoughts and taking responsibility for your mistakes. At the same time, self-confidence is also important because it allows us to say no to negative or harmful situations that don’t benefit us, so that we can avoid possible damage that could otherwise happen if we were vulnerable or easily influenced by others’ opinions.
If you’d like to keep your business healthy, then make sure that your mental state is taken care of every day and never let anything get in the way of self-improvement. Invest in personal growth every year, by working with an adept coach who adds immense value to your life & business.
Source of problem
Remember that being receptive means being open to new information about others or ourselves instead of just staying with the existing opinions. In the same manner, being flexible is all about taking personal responsibility when things go wrong instead of shifting blame elsewhere.
Trying to trace the source of a problem in your business is sometimes hard to do, especially if there are no clear clues on who or what is causing it. What’s even more difficult is finding ways to solve it when the root cause cannot be determined. For this reason, entrepreneurs often resort to several strategies that they hope will somehow help them bring their business back into the green.
One thing you need to know however is that solving problems can never be effective if you’re not mentally prepared for them in the first place. If you want to find lasting solutions for your company’s issues or plan for exponential growth, then you need to consider getting yourself into the right mental state where logical thinking and effective decision-making are part of your repertoire.
The common mistake that entrepreneurs make is that they think their mental state doesn’t affect the health of their business. What they don’t realize, however, is that if their mind isn’t focused and organized enough, then it will be impossible to find solutions for problems. If you’re not in a good place mentally, then solving issues will become a problem itself.
There are several things you need to do in order to get yourself into the right frame of mind:
- Examine your behavior – Are you reacting or responding? Are you assuming or listening? Are you being objective or critical? Master your emotional state to avoid making hasty or bad decisions. Letting your emotions take over is a definite no-no in running a business.
- Know when not to make decisions – No matter how hard you try, it’s impossible for one person to handle every problem that crops up in the business. Accepting that some things may fall outside your area of expertise can be difficult, but it’s important to be able to get feedback from other people who are more competent on certain matters. Seek help from an expert if need be.
- Authentic communication – Communication is the key to building strong connections within the company and with clients too. It doesn’t matter how brilliant or capable you are; if communication within your team is faulty, then getting anything done will become very difficult.
- Learn to trust – If you want your business to keep growing, then it’s crucial for entrepreneurs to learn when not to micromanage their employees’ work and let them do the jobs they’re trained for.
