Suresh Oberoi, in a resurfaced interview clip, refuted claims of imitating Amitabh Bachchan's voice, emphasizing his commitment to originality. He stated he doesn't copy anyone, not even himself, and always seeks a fresh approach to every role. Dr. Chandni Tugnait highlights Oberoi's philosophy as a model for artists to focus on self-improvement and innovation rather than comparison.

An old interview clip that recently resurfaced features veteran actor Suresh Oberoi addressing comparisons made between his voice and Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic baritone.

According to a snippet shared by SCREEN, Oberoi firmly denied ever copying Big B’s voice or style. He said, “Nahi bhai, main kisiki copy nahi karta. Main toh Suresh Oberoi ki bhi dobaara copy nahi karta.” (No, I don’t copy anyone. I don’t even copy myself.)

The actor further added that even if he gets a similar role in another film, he changes his approach to the character, dialogue delivery, and attitude each time.

The star, known for his distinctive voice and presence in films like ‘Coolie,’ made it clear that originality has always been his priority in every performance.

Notably, Suresh Oberoi and Amitabh Bachchan were seen in several films, including ‘Laawaris’, ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, and to name a few.

    Compete with yourself and grow

In today’s world, people often compare themselves to others. But for an artist, true growth comes from looking within, not outside. Suresh Oberio’s words were even quoted by Dr. Chandni Tugnait, a psychotherapist and founder of Gateway of Healing, who belives, “Every creative person has to decide whether to stay in their comfort zone or take a risk and try something new. It’s not easy, but being original is the only way to truly grow.”

To truly shine, artists should focus less on beating others and more on improving themselves.

According to Dr. Chandni Tugnait, real growth starts when an artist focuses on improving from their past work, instead of copying others or trying to impress people.

She shared an example of veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, who once said he doesn’t even repeat his own past performances. “This mindset is powerful,” said Dr. Tugnait. “It teaches us not to stick to what once worked just because it was successful. Instead, we should keep learning, changing, and expressing ourselves in new and meaningful ways.”
