Ever wondered why we look forward to mid-week holidays? It’s a welcome break for our mental health! Otherwise, the mind keeps pacing up and down to meet deadlines! Utilise your Republic Day 2022 off day to do things that make you feel good and relaxed.

There are those who welcome the weekend as a chance to reduce stress by leaving work behind and spending time with family. For them, weekends are not about resting from work but rather recovering from the exhaustion of life outside the office. Mid-week holidays, however, are a welcome break for The hard working folks who need a break to revitalize themselves and come back stronger than ever before.

“Schedules can be demanding and stressful. We all have a list of things we need to get done or want to accomplish during the week, So, it is only natural that there may not be enough hours in a day to get everything done on time. That’s why most people look forward to mid-week breaks as it just feels like some extra time in hand,” says Dr Chandni Tugnait. MD (Alternative Medicines), Psychotherapist and Life Coach.

Here’s how to use your mid-week break to rejuvenate yourself on Republic Day:

According Dr Tugnait, Founder & Director – Gateway of Healing, these are some of the best ways to feel recharged, and utilise this Republic Day holiday!

1.Fit in some guiltless indulgence into your schedule

It is perfectly acceptable to enjoy yourself during the week. Take time to sit back, watch some movies, read that book you’ve not had the time for and just unwind. A little pampering always feels great. So, indulge in a facial or a massage session to relax your body and mind. Dig into your favourite dessert.

    2. Take up the new hobby you have been looking forward to try

This week could be the start of your biking, doodling, dancing or even golfing! The possibilities are endless. So, pick something you have always wanted to try but never did due to lack of time. Your mid-week break will present you with ample opportunities.

    3. Do a detox/cleanse/healthy living challenge:

Are there certain eating habits you have that are not healthy? For instance, do you indulge in greasy fast food on a regular basis? If yes, then this is the time to give that up and start eating clean. Alternatively, you could sign up for an 8-day juice cleanse challenge or even sign-up for yoga or zumba sessions to work your way up to being more flexible.

    4. Take care of yourself:

You’ve heard the saying ‘self care is not selfish’, right? Well, it’s true. So, make sure you take time to chill and also keep your sleep schedule on point. More often than not, we tend to neglect our mental health which leads us down the road to stress, anxiety or depression. Stick to the commitment to yourself.

    5. Go out on a date with friends:

Fix up a coffee or movie date with your favourites and invest time in unwinding, in happy conversations and letting yourself loose. Don’t fret over the schedule for the next day and experience the joys – big or small, that your mid-week break has to offer.

    6. Have a family night/day:

This is an opportunity for you to curl up at home and plan a nice and warm day/evening with your family. This could mean playing some games, watching TV, sharing recent highlights, and other activities that you can do together to recharge the batteries and unburden your mind.

Let’s get started. So, what are some ways YOU plan on using YOUR mid-week break?
